Avocados great benefits

Who would've figured that a simple fruit can have so many benefits? It wasn't until my brother and sister in law came to visit that I was brought into the loop of all the wonderful outcomes of using avocados. While they were visiting, I asked them all kinds of questions about diet and exercise because I like to apply the knowledge to my own life. They eat very healthy, and exercise several times a week. So they gave me a tip about avocado. Not only do you reap benefits from consuming this fruit, but by also using it topically.

Avocados are rich in folate, potassium, mono-saturated fats, fiber, vitamin A & C, and contains a ton of natural emollients. The folate in just one avocado contains 30% of your daily folate and 30% more potassium than a banana. Also the mono-saturated fats contains oleic acid that helps improve fat level and controls diabetes. If you have high cholesterol, then here is good news for you. Avocados also help lower your cholesterol because it contains HDL which is good cholesterol. Because avocados are high in calories and fat, you should not consume a whole one if you are on a low calorie, low carb diet. Eating a fifth of one should be just the right amount. Also be sure to use a ripe avocado. To tell if its ripe, hold it in the palm of your hand and give it a gentle squeeze. Although it is fairly firm, it should yield to the squeeze. If you do not use the whole fruit at once, squeeze lemon or lime juice on it to preserve it for they brown very quickly.

Use the fruit topically if you want to reveal some more magic. For your skin, avocado can help redness, acne, eczema, and dry skin. The pulp is also said to be antibacterial and anti-fungal. When using it for your hair, results are amazing. It adds shine, body and is very hydrating.

To make a mask for dry skin:

  • 2 oz. of avocado
  • 1 oz of orange juice
  • 1 tsp of pure acacia honey
  • 1 tsp of molasses
  • chamomile essential oil drops

You blend these ingredients and apply it to your skin. Massage it gently and leave on for one hour. Then rinse. If you have sensitive skin, add more honey to the ingredients.

To make a mask for oily skin:

  • one egge white
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 avocado

The results leave you with soft, smooth skin.

To make a hair mask:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil

You blend these ingredients. Part your hair into sections and apply. Leave on for 20 minutes, adding a cap and heat is optional. Then wash and conditioner hair as normal.

I was amazed when I learned of all the benefits you can get from avocado. I was completely unaware that one fruit can do so much. Its like a general purpose food, that heals your body, skin and hair.Who would of thought?
